WHAT
DILIGENCE (Digital Literacy Guidance in Teacher Education for Critical Empowerment) is a capacity-building project in teacher education that aims to strengthen digital literacy within Mozambique’s education system. The project equips teacher educators, pre-service teachers, and in-service teachers with essential digital, pedagogical, and civic competences to support inclusive, sustainable, and participatory learning environments.

Grounded in the Whole School Approach, DILIGENCE integrates participatory learning, digital literacy for critical empowerment, reflective practice, and community engagement. The project contributes to reducing regional disparities, supports educators with fewer opportunities, and strengthens the connection between primary and secondary teacher education, fostering systemic change in Mozambique.
DILIGENCE?
The project implements a national training programme, develops a Digital Literacy for Critical Empowerment framework, and provides a multilingual open-access virtual platform, contributing to the sustainability of the project’s actions and creating conditions for their adaptation and use in other Sub-Saharan African contexts.

Our Mission
The project aims to address key challenges within Mozambique’s education system by strengthening digital literacy among teacher trainers and in-service teachers. It seeks to equip educators with essential digital and pedagogical competences to foster inclusive learning environments that promote critical thinking, creativity, social responsibility, and active citizenship.
Our Vision
The DILIGENCE project seeks to contribute to systemic educational change in Mozambique, supporting the development of a digitally inclusive, democratic, and resilient society. In the long term, the project aims to scale its virtual platform, framework, and learning modules to other Sub-Saharan African countries, extending its impact beyond national boundaries.
